Newer reagents that detect IgG and IgA antibodies against degraded gliadin (DGP) are used to control gluten and celiac intolerance.

Gliadin is part of the gluten protein found in wheat, barley and rye. Antibodies against gliadin, also known as anti-gliadin antibodies, arise in certain sensitive individuals exposed to gluten for a specific period of time. Detection of gliadin antibodies is one of the tests used to diagnose celiac disease and other gluten sensitivities. Antigliadin antibody search can be used to rule out celiac disease in patients with anemia or abdominal pain or in the context of investigating various allergies. Typically, both IgA and IgG anti-gliadin antibodies are measured.
The presence of other diseases of the gastrointestinal system, such as Crohn's disease, can sometimes give a false positive result.
