Recverberine Antibodies

Testing for antibodies against the recombinant antigen (recoverin) is used in suspected paraneoplastic retinopathy (carcinoma retinopathy).

Recverberine antibodies are found almost exclusively in paraneoplastic retinopathy (cancer associated with retinopathy, CAR). The associated neoplasms are usually melanoma and small cell lung cancer.

Recoverin is a protein with a molecular weight of 23 kDa and is mainly located in the photocells of the eye.
