Titin Antibodies

Screening for titin autoantibodies is suspected of paraneoplastic syndrome and ambiguous forms of neuropathy.

Titin is a filamentous protein found in skeletal muscle and heart muscle that plays an important role in muscle contraction. Titin is also known as connectin, encoded by the TTN gene and has a very high molecular weight (3816 kDa). Antibodies against titin can be detected in patients with severe myasthenia (gravis myasthenia) and are often associated with thymoma.
