Screening for antibodies against the OJ antigen is performed in the investigation of patients with possible polymyositis, dermatomyositis, and overlap syndrome.
OJ antibodies can be detected in < 5% of patients with polymyositis. The OJ antigen corresponds to the isoleucyl-tRNA-synthase enzyme.
