Heavy Metals are found everywhere in the environment, in the air, in food, in water, in medicines, in dietary supplements, and in everyday products and can have serious consequences for human health. Heavy metals can cause damage to the central nervous system, cardiovascular system, gastrointestinal tract, lungs, kidneys, liver, endocrine glands, and bones. In addition to the direct and toxic effects, certain metals can cause hypersensitivity reactions in sensitive individuals, resulting in reactions from the skin, endocrine glands, and immune system.
Metals are measured by the method ICP-MS (Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry), a method that allows the simultaneous detection of many metals with very high sensitivity and accuracy compared to the method of atomic absorption.
