Adrenal Fatigue

Adrenal fatigue is a term used to describe fatigue and other symptoms that occur when the adrenal glands do not function properly, in people who are under mental, emotional, or physical stress. The adrenal glands produce the hormones cortisol and dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA), essential components for the body to respond properly to any form of stress. Cortisol helps the body respond to daily stressful situations, but over time, the over-secretion of cortisol caused by daily stress can "deplete" and "tire" the adrenal glands, leading them to abnormal function.
