Screening for antibodies against the AGNA antigen (anti-glial nuclear antibodies) is used in suspected paraneoplastic syndrome and in ambiguous forms of neuropathy. SOX1 antigen is used as the test antigen.
Antibodies against the AGNA antigen can occur in Lambert-Eaton syndrome and in cerebral destruction. The most common form of cancer associated with the AGNA antigen is small cell lung cancer.
