Testing for antibodies against the antigen recoverin is used in suspected paraneoplastic retinopathy (cancer-associated retinopathy).
Recoverin antibodies are found almost exclusively in paraneoplastic retinopathy (cancer-associated retinopathy, CAR). The associated neoplasms are usually melanoma and small cell lung cancer.
Recoverin is a protein with a molecular weight of 23 kDa and is mainly located in the photocells of the eye.
